Rieti
The exchange students from Rieti, Italy to Ito in 2023 are siblings Alice and Andrea Ambrosi. They stayed in Ito from June 28th to July 11th.
2023年度のイタリア・リエティ市からの交換学生はアリーチェ・アンブロスィさんとアンドレア・アンブロスィさんの姉弟。６月28 日から 7 月11 日まで伊東に滞在しました。

I have participated in several cultural exchange projects during my high school years because I have always been in love with the idea of traveling and discovering cultures and landscapes that are foreign to me. When I arrived in Japan I didn’t know what to expect, I had never been so far from home. It was all surprisingly easy, I settled right in despite the jet lag. The people I met in this experience seemed to me the most kind, enthusiastic and sunny I have ever known, they have transmitted to me so much energy and desire to know. In Japan I realized how much easier and more pleasant it is to be kind. Often in my daily world people shout and behave in a rude way with strangers they meet on the street, in Japan all this does not exist. All people are ready to give 100% of themselves to help you, this atmosphere gives you joy, and everything becomes more beautiful.
The travel program was full of commitments but gave us the opportunity to have a completely full immersion in the new world; we visited temple and shrine, we cooked together, made many walks in beautiful nature and then as a huge final we spent a day in breathtaking Tokyo. Ito is a small town but rich in natural, cultural and entertainment resources. Participating in the “tub race” was fun, I am very competitive but there was room for everyone, “professionals” and children, young and adults. I would do it all over again a thousand times.
Even before I left, I knew I would miss Japan and the people I met there. Staying with the family was great luck, I did not miss anything and it was very pleasant to spend the evenings singing, telling stories and joking with everyone. I have made many trips but for sure this was the most surprising, it left me many good memories and many new acquaintances. I’d leave again today if I had the chance.
高校時代に何度か交換プログラムに参加した経験がありますが、当時の私にとって日本は遠くて想像しにくい国でした。しかし、出会った人々は皆、温かくて熱心で明るい方々ばかりで、すぐに馴染むことができました。神社や仏閣を訪れたり、時差ぼけに苦しみながらも、その文化にすぐに馴染むことができました。彼らは私の好奇心を刺激し、新たなエネルギーを与えてくれました。日本では親切でいることがとても自然で楽しいことを実感しました。普段、見知らぬ人との接触で無礼な態度をとることが多い社会に比べ、日本ではそういったことは見当たりませんでした。みんなが全力で手を差し伸べてくれるおかげで、喜びに満ちた雰囲気が広がり、すべてが美しく感じられました。
旅行のスケジュールは忙しいものでしたが、新しい世界に完全に没頭する機会を与えてくれました。神社や仏閣の訪問や地元料理の体験、美しい自然の中での散策など、日本の魅力を存分に味わいました。そして最終日には、息をのむような東京の一日を過ごすことができました。伊東は小さな町ですが、自然や文化、そして楽しみが豊富にありました。”タライ乗り競争”に参加したことも楽しかったです。競争心が強い私でも、子供から大人まで誰もが参加できるイベントでした。再び参加したいと心から思いました。
日本を去る直前から、日本や出会った人々が恋しくなるだろうと感じていました。ホストファミリーと過ごした時間は特に幸せな思い出でした。毎晩一緒に歌ったり話したり、冗談を言ったりして、寂しさを感じることなく充実した時間を過ごしました。これまで様々な旅をしてきましたが、この日本の旅は間違いなく最も驚きに値するものであり、多くの良い思い出と新しい友人を得ることができました。もし機会があれば、すぐにでも再び日本に旅立ちたい気持ちです。

Visiting Japan was one of the best experiences of my life. Right from the start the people we met welcomed us warmly. At the beginning it was a little difficult to settle in, Japanese culture is very different from ours but equally beautiful. The Ito twinning committee was very kind to us, treating us like family and offering us fantastic activities every day. In Ito I was able to try Japanese food, which I immediately fell in love with, and learn about local customs and habits. The Sugimoto’s family, Mr. Kanai and Mr. Larry always proved helpful and kind to us, I will always have wonderful memories of those houses. Among the experiences we had, one of the most fun was certainly the bathtub race, very different from the one we do in Rieti and I honestly prefer yours. I also really enjoyed participating in the ceremony, which I had heard a lot about, at that moment I felt Japanese for a while. All the days spent in Ito will always remain in my heart and I hope one day to be able to return together with my family.
日本滞在は、私の人生で最も素晴らしい経験でした。出会った人々は私たちを暖かく迎え入れてくれました。日本の文化はイタリアとは異なるため、最初は少し戸惑いましたが、その美しさに魅了されました。伊東国際交流協会の皆さんはとても親切で、私たちを家族のように迎え入れてくれ、毎日素晴らしい体験をさせてくれました。日本食に夢中になり、伊東の風習や習慣も学びました。杉本さん、金井さん、ラリーさんとその家族の皆さんは常に親切で、何かと手助けしてくれました。この旅は素晴らしい思い出になりました。特に楽しかったのは、”タライ乗り競争”でした。リエティでの競技とは大きく異なり、正直言って、こちらの方が好みです。また、茶道体験も本当に楽しかったです。これについてはたくさん聞いていたので、その瞬間、私はしばらく日本人になったような気持ちでした。伊東での日々の思い出は永遠に私の心に刻まれるでしょう。次は家族と一緒に来たいと思っています。
