The Japanese language class was established shortly after the founding of the Ito Association for International Relations (IAIR). Initially, it was started to assist foreigners living in Ito by offering support through Japanese language learning. Students who come to the classroom include those who have married Japanese individuals, those who have come to Japan for training, those who have started working in Japan, as well as their children, among others. As of the end of 2020, the total number of students who have attended the classroom is over 1,000.
日本語教室は、伊東国際交流協会が設立されてまもなく作られました。当初は伊東に住む外国人の生活支援のため、まずは日本語学習を通してお手伝いしようという事で始められました。来られる生徒さんは日本人と結婚された方、日本に研修のために来られた方、日本で働き始めた方、またそれらの子供さん等たくさん来られます。今まで教室に来られた生徒さんは全部で１，０００人以上（2020年末）になります。
The teachers range from those who hold qualifications in Japanese language education, volunteers who want to assist foreigners living in Japan even in a small way, to those who are interested in interacting with foreigners, from young individuals to veterans. Classes are held for a total of six hours a week over two days. Many students who have taken the Japanese Language Proficiency Test have also passed. Apart from classes, various extracurricular activities such as an annual bus hike are also conducted. Everyone is welcome to the classroom at any time. The teachers are eagerly awaiting your visit.
先生方は、日本語教育の資格を持っておられる方、外国人の日本での生活に少しでもお手伝いできたらというボランティアの方、外国人との交流に興味のある方等若い方からベテランの方までいろいろおられます。授業は週に２日合計６時間開いております。今まで日本語能力試験を受けられ、合格された生徒さんもたくさんおられます。授業以外にも課外活動、年１回のバスハイクなどいろいろ活動しております。どなたも気軽に教室においでください。先生一同、心よりお待ちしております。

Class Target / 学習目標：
Classes are conducted primarily on a one-on-one basis, tailored to the students’ Japanese language proficiency levels, ranging from beginner to advanced. Students learn basic Japanese grammar while acquiring communication skills equivalent to daily conversation. Those aiming for advanced levels focus on preparing for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test to pass it.
初級、中級、上級というように、生徒の日本語能力に応じて指導 原則的にマンツーマン方式にての授業、日本語の基本的文法を学習しながら日常会話程度のコミュニケーション能力の習得、さらに上級を目指すものは日本語能力検定試験の学習、合格を目指します。

Lesson / 授業：
The students and teachers in the Japanese language classroom conduct their sessions on a one-on-one basis, typically with two teachers assigned to each student to avoid relying solely on one teacher’s teaching style. This is done to prevent bias towards one teacher’s methods.
日本語教室の生徒と先生は１：１のマンツーマンで行っており、原則として一人の生徒に対し、先生は二人で受け持ち、一人の先生に固定しないようにしています。 一人の先生からの教え方に偏るのを避ける為です。
During the International Friendship Festival in ITO, students from the Japanese language classroom present speeches in Japanese. At this event, teachers review the content of the speeches, point out areas for improvement, and support the students to deliver better speeches.
伊東国際交流フェスタにおいて、日本語教室の生徒が日本語でスピーチを披露します。この場において、スピーチの内容を先生たちが確認するとともに修正すべきところを指摘して、より良いスピーチができるよう応援します。
In addition to in-class lessons, extracurricular classes are also held.
教室内の授業だけではなく課外授業も行います。
Improving the level of teachers / 先生方のレベルアップ:
Teachers attend workshops conducted by qualified instructors who have already obtained teaching credentials to enhance their Japanese language teaching abilities. These workshops are held approximately twice a year and focus on explaining teaching points and methods while dissecting teaching materials used for instructing students.
先生方は日本語教育の能力をより向上させる為に教師の資格を既に得ている先生から講習を受けます。
この講習会は年に２回程度行われており、生徒を教えるためのテキストを解説しながら教えるポイント、教え方を学びます。
