【イギリス・メドウェイ市からの交換学生が伊東にやってきました / Exchange Students from Medway, UK Have Arrived in Ito】
2025年度のイギリス・メドウェイ市から交換学生、Elizabeth Budnic さんと Ronnie Moore 君が７月31日に伊東にやってきました。二人は伊東市内で８月12日までホームステイ先に滞在しました。この間、伊豆伊東高校訪問、按針祭への参加、横須賀で開催されるユースフォーラム等に参加しました。
On July 31, 2025, two exchange students from Medway, United Kingdom – Ms. Elizabeth Budnic and Mr. Ronnie Moore – arrived in Ito.
They had stayed with host families in the city until August 12. During their stay, they had visited Izu Ito High School, took part in the Anjin Festival, and joined a youth forum in Yokosuka.

姉妹都市イタリア・リエティより２名の交換学生が伊東にやってきました。今年度の学生はLeonardo (18) と Niccolò (16) の兄弟。７月４日から７月13日まで伊東に滞在し14日に帰国しました。
Two exchange students from our sister city, Rieti, Italy, had visited Ito. This year’s students were brothers Leonardo (18) and Niccolò (16). They had stayed in Ito from July 4th to July 13th and returned to Italy on the 14th.

伊東市の友好都市イギリス・メドウェイ市とイタリア・リエティ市へ派遣する2025年度の交換学生選考会が 2025年４月６日に実施され、以下の４名が選出されました。
On April 6, 2025, the selection meeting for the 2025 exchange student program to Ito City’s sister cities—Medway in the United Kingdom and Rieti in Italy—was held. The following four students have been selected to participate in this international exchange program.

【イタリアからの訪問者９名との交流 / Interaction with Nine Visitors from Italy】
2024年11月24日、イタリア北部の都市 Camogli （カモーリ）から９名（男性４名、女性５名）のイタリアの方々が日本人と話のできる機会を持ちたいということで伊東国際協会を訪れました。
On November 24, 2024, nine visitors (4 men and 5 women) from Camogli, a city in northern Italy, visited the Ito Association for International Relations, seeking an opportunity to engage in conversations with Japanese people.
協会側からは 11名の会員が呼びかけに応じて集まってくれました。
In response, 11 members of the association gathered to welcome them.
会話は英語を中心に行われました。イタリアの方々、そして日本の方々も英会話のできる人は少なかったのですが、双方とも英語の得意な方がそれぞれの言語の通訳を兼ねてお互いの意思疎通を行いました。
The conversations primarily took place in English. Although only a few among both the Italian and Japanese participants were fluent in English, those proficient acted as interpreters, facilitating mutual understanding between the two groups.
イタリアの方々は皆さんリタイアされた方がほとんだだったせいもあり、日本の健康保険制度に関する質問などが多くありました。一行の中には水球の選手としてオリンピックに４回出場した方もおりました。今でも水泳は続けているとのことでした。
The Italian visitors, most of whom were retirees, expressed significant interest in Japan’s healthcare system, asking numerous questions on the topic. Among the group was a former Olympic water polo player who had participated in the Games four times and still actively enjoys swimming.
協会の事務所で２時間程の話をした後に居酒屋「魚民」で会食をしました。
Following a two-hour discussion at the association’s office, the group moved to the izakaya “Uotami” for a dinner gathering.
現在は円安もあり多くの外国の方々が日本にやってきています。その中で今回のイタリアからの一行のように名所旧跡をめぐるだけではなく、その国の人とのコミニュケーションも含めて日本を訪れることはたいへん有意義なことだと思います。今後とも、このような申し出があった時には、協会として積極的に対応していきたいと思います。
With the current yen depreciation, Japan is attracting an increasing number of foreign visitors. Beyond merely touring historical and cultural landmarks, experiences like this—where people can engage directly with locals—offer profound value. The association is committed to actively welcoming similar requests in the future to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
【メドウェイへの派遣生の帰国報告 / Report on the Return of Students Sent to Medway】
伊東市からメドウェイへの派遣学生２名が９月11日に伊東市の副市長に帰国報告しました。その様子が伊豆新聞に記事として掲載されました。
On September 11, two students from Itō City, who were sent to Medway, reported their return to the Deputy Mayor of Itō City. This event was covered as an article in the Izu Shimbun.
【メドウェイからの派遣生帰国・伊東市からの派遣生出発 / Return of Students from Medway and Departure of Ito City Students】
友好都市英国・メドウェイ市からの派遣生Charlie Langridge (18歳)とOliver Miller (18歳)は、約２週間の伊東滞在を終え８月12日に帰国しました。
Charlie Langridge (18) and Oliver Miller (18), the exchange students from our sister city, Medway, United Kingdom, returned home on August 12th after spending approximately two weeks in Ito.
同時に伊東市からの派遣生、鈴木優枝郎君と中楯友奈さんも彼らと同じ飛行機で英国に出発しました。
At the same time, two exchange students from Ito City, Yuichiro Suzuki and Yuna Nakatate, departed for the United Kingdom on the same flight.
メドウェイからの派遣生を受け入れ、彼らに日本の生活を提供してくださったホストファミリーの方々、本当にありがとうございました。
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the host families who welcomed the students from Medway and provided them with a memorable experience of life in Japan.
【たくさんの思い出を胸に交換学生がイタリアに帰りました / Exchange Students Return to Italy with Many Cherished Memories】
６月２８日から伊東を訪れていた友好都市イタリア・リエティ市からの交換学生 Mari Anna Francesca （14歳）とGrasso Matteo （16歳）が伊東での滞在を終えて７月１０日に帰国しました。
On July 10th, Mari Anna Francesca (14) and Grasso Matteo (16), exchange students from our sister city Rieti in Italy, returned home after their stay in Ito, which began on June 28th.
市長表敬訪問、市内観光、伊豆伊東高校訪問や、たらい乗り競争へ参加して団体戦で準優勝する等、たくさんの思い出を残していってくれました。また、ホストファミリーと過ごして知った日本文化を心より楽しんでくれていたようでした。
During their visit, they created numerous memories, including a courtesy visit to the mayor, sightseeing around the city, visiting Izu Ito High School, and participating in the Tarai-Nori (tub boat) race, where they achieved second place in the team competition. Additionally, they seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed experiencing Japanese culture while spending time with their host families.
